Little Country Giants “60 Grit” brilliant as usual.:

Cameron Cook Little Country Giants

One of our favorite “real country”/Americana groups, Little Country Giants are coming back to Barking Legs Theater on Sunday Feb. 17th. for a Sunday evening show in one of the best venues in the southeast for sound quality and intimate settings. Their latest CD titled “60 Grit” is the ideal dish to be served up in this way. 60 grit indicates a coarse grade of sandpaper, for heavy sanding and stripping, roughing up the surface. Keep in mind that “stripped down” by Little Country Giants’ standards is Cameron Cook on upright bass and vocals and Russel Cook on guitar and vocals, essentially a 4 piece in any other band right there. Then add in a fiddle, (5 piece!) and a brush & snare player and it’s a complete ensemble with traditional style vocal harmonies. Eliza Rickman has played @ Barking Legs Theater in Chattanooga twice in 2012 Her first show with us convinced me she is completely ready for much bigger stages once the media and then the public catches on to her amazingly dynamic stage presentations, chilling vocals and captivating stage presence. Her looping capabilities rival that of Andrew Bird and we will once again roll out the Grand Piano for her performance in order to accentuate her signature set which includes toy piano and other technological marvels. Don’t miss Eliza Rickman while You can still see her i up close & in an intimate listening environment. Until then You can listen here to two of my personal favorites from Eliza’s most recent album. As of January 2013 Eliza seems to hae settled down a bit in the Los Angeles vicinty to play and write more music. ~R.

Since I’m slow these days at adding my own content I thought I’d re-blog this significant bit of self documentary by The Bridges. Brittany Painter’s’ video shows the young band living out the rock “n roll dream in reality. Snippets of their newer songs included toward the end give a hint at how quickly and powerfully their skills are accelerating. In particular Brittany’s voice is taking on a gravelly maturity that has me jonesing to see their new material live, even though I’ve seen them seven times already.

Mystery Floor
This is the floor of one of the buildings we’re looking at for a potential new venue. Unfortunately even in the so called recession realators are completely unrealistic in their demands and dreams of wealth for themselves. Therefore many interesting buildings sit vacant for long periods.
If You can gues the location of this floor, or better yet find us the perfrct location for the all inclusive new music venue this city needs you’ll win a prize! Don’t know what yet, maybe a job offer?

Man! I’ve been beating the keyboard all day trying to streamline a whole bunch of mass communication mediums into one far reaching entity that will be controlled by one mobile module. This is day one on this project and I only learned of Tumblr’s existence about an hour ago…SO keep checking back to see where this all leads and how it develops. I HAVE seen some appealing stuff on here already though so here goes…)
